Kent Novak has over 30 years of experience in technology industries. Prior to becoming CEO at Valencell, Kent was Senior Vice President & General Manager of DLP Products at Texas Instruments. There he transformed the DLP Products organization to help drive significant growth in multiple new markets. Prior to Texas Instruments, Kent held management positions at several telecommunication companies, including AT&T Network System (later became Lucent), Corvis, Geyser Networks, DSC Communications and Alcatel. Kent holds BSIE and MSIE degrees from Purdue University.

Steven LeBoeuf, Ph.D.
President & Co-Founder, Valencell, Inc.
Inventor of more than 100 granted patents in the field of wearable biomedical sensing, Dr. Steven LeBoeuf is one of the foundational innovators in wearable PPG sensors that are now embedded in millions of wearables on the market today. Before founding Valencell in 2006, Dr. LeBoeuf pioneered innovations in solid state materials, multiwavelength optoelectronic devices, high-power electronics, nanostructured materials and devices, and biochemical sensor systems while serving as a Senior Scientist and Biosensor Project Lead for General Electric. LeBoeuf has developed dozens of strategic partnerships with industry leading consumer technology brands, medical professionals, research institutions, medical device manufacturers, health and fitness companies, and start-ups. One of the most broadly quoted scientists and entrepreneurs in the field of wearable PPG sensing, LeBoeuf has served as a speaker in 50+ events around the world and is routinely interviewed by journalists, industry analysts, venture capitalists, and academic researchers.  As a founding pioneer in modern wearables, LeBoeuf has managed Valencell’s foundational patent portfolio, which has been licensed to dozens of companies around the world and implemented in 40+ wearable devices, ranging from earbuds, hearing aids, wristbands, legbands, smartwatches, virtual reality systems, headbands and more. LeBoeuf holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, where he has been inducted into the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Hall of Fame, and BS degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at Louisiana Tech University.

Michael Aumer, Ph.D.
Vice President of R&D & Co-Founder
With more than 10 patents to his credit, Mike is responsible for R&D and product development initiatives for Valencell. Prior to Valencell, he managed budgets over $3M while transitioning innovative electronics technology from R&D to production at Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems. Mike holds several degrees including a M.S. in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Vijay Parmar

Vijay Parmer
Partner, GII Tech Ventures Silicon Valley, California
Vijay focuses on mid-stage technology investments in companies with a proven product and/or service in deployment and a strong customer and revenue pipeline as well as select early stage companies on a rapid growth curve.
Vijay brings a wealth of operating experience to the GII Tech portfolio companies as well as a vast global network. His experience includes both startup companies (VP Marketing at VxTel, acquired by Intel; Founder/CEO at GainSpan, spun off from Intel; Founder/CEO at ReZolt and Ubzerve, acquired by Anaren) and large companies (senior executive positions at AMD and Intel). He is adept in areas including cloud technologies, networking, telecommunications, wireless, and Internet of Things. Vijay has lived and worked in Taiwan, New Zealand, Bahrain and India, and is now settled in the Silicon Valley.
Vijay received a B. Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and an MBA in Finance from Tulane University.

Jon Scrimshaw - Valencell CFO

Jon Scrimshaw has approximately 20 years of financial experience in the technology industry, most recently as the Senior Director of Corporate Finance at Red Hat, Inc. In this role, Jon was responsible for corporate financial planning and management, and while there helped the company to grow to over $4 billion in revenue. Over the course of his time at Red Hat, Jon was also part of both the accounting and financial operations teams. Prior to Red Hat, Jon spent over 10 years at IBM in various Finance & Accounting roles, most notably supporting Mergers & Acquisitions. Jon holds a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Elon University.

Mark Felice
Vice President of Business Development and Licensing
As the VP of Business Development and Licensing, Mark serves as the primary point of contact for all prospective global licensees of the company’s PerformTek™ sensor technology. Prior to Valencell, Mark served as the VP of Business Development at Beyond Oblivion, leading the company’s global business development effort and rapidly expanding market reach and commercial pipeline in the process. As the Co-Founder and VP of Business Development at Trinity Convergence, Mark spearheaded all global business development efforts, serving as a key member of the corporate strategy team contributing to multiple acquisitions. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Scott Downing

Vice President of Sales
As VP of Sales, Scott leads our global customer-facing team.  Scott brings over 30 years of sales leadership experience to Valencell from the semiconductor industry.  Prior to joining Valencell, Scott most recently drove sales activities at Qorvo, Inc via its acquisition of Active-semi Inc (precision power management and intelligent motor control solutions).  Prior to Active-semi, Scott held various sales management roles at Texas Instruments Inc including global account manager for various communications and medical customers and global sales director of a business unit.  Scott holds a BSEE degree from the University of Dayton.

James Pastoriza
Managing General Partner, TDF Ventures
James Pastoriza has been Managing General Partner at TDF Ventures (TDF) since 2004. Before TDF he was a Partner at JPMorgan Capital in Silicon Valley from 2000-2004 and a Partner at AT&T Ventures from 1995-2000. He began his career at AT&T holding several operating positions. He has a BSEE from Columbia University and MS from MIT. He lives with his wife and two boys outside Washington, DC.
