Data Scientist

Position:  Data Scientist

Experience:  5+ years

Type:  Full-time employment

Opportunity Description:
You will be a vital member of our R&D organization, working within a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop disruptive solutions for the digital therapeutic marketplace. Your typical data science activities will include the following:

• Studying photoplethysmogram (PPG) data from wearable sensor systems and reporting findings
• Prototyping machine learning algorithms to extract novel biological information
• Optimizing algorithms to generate estimates for physiological metrics and health assessments
• Conducting exploratory research (proof-of-concept studies) for next-gen technologies on Valencell’s roadmap
• Working within a cross-functional development team to integrate Valencell technology into commercial solutions

 Required Education and Skills:
• M.S. or higher in Mathematics, Computer Science, EE, or a related technical major 
• 5+ years of experience practicing data science in a product development environment
• Fluency in Python
• Experience in developing machine learning algorithms
• Experience with popular deep learning tools such as Keras and TensorFlow
• Familiarity with digital signal processing techniques

Lagniappe (nice-to-have) skills:
• Experience with probabilistic modeling
• Experience with biometric sensing technology
• Experience with git, Google Cloud, Linux
• Ability to organize data utilizing relational database 

Regulatory Affairs Manager

Position:  Regulatory Affairs Manager

Opportunity Description:
You will be a vital member of our operations team working primarily with Valencell’s medical-grade monitoring wearable devices and digital health solutions. Wearable devices and solutions are newly designed products that Valencell is developing that will be subject regulations for consumer and medical grade clearances. You will have the chance to help design and implement best practices in a fast paced and quickly growing company.

This role has 4 key functions:

  1. Work with engineering, manufacturing partners and suppliers to support development of new products and regulatory requirements. Support and implementation of required processes and controls to meet the needs of regulatory agencies like the FDA.
  2. Key member, contributor, and coordinator for the process, including documentation, that is required to submit for regulatory approvals like 510(k) submissions.
  3.  Key member in the management and training of the quality management system and ensures that it meets our needs for obtaining medical clearance. As needed, manage risk and quality functions, document control, product change management plus any additional processes that are required as our business expands.
  4.  Support our legacy businesses.

This person must be a self-starter, highly motivated individual that works well across multiple teams in the company. This position provides a great opportunity to contribute substantially to a rapidly growing startup company, with many opportunities for career growth.

Required Education and Skills:
• B.S. or higher in engineering
• 2+ years’ experience in a regulatory role in a medical device company
• Experience working on documentation and 510(k) submissions to the FDA
• Experience in medical devices
• Experience working with electronics and optics (preferred)
• SPC and Statistical analysis methods and tools
• Experience working with wearables or hearables or fitness brands (preferred)
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering, industrial design, and optics
• Exceptional communications skills: writing test plans, summarizing evaluation processes, summarizing complex discussions, and preparing reports for both internal and customer consumption
