Job Description:

You will be a vital member of our Sales and Applications team working with Valencell’s Benchmark® sensor solution product line in a predominantly customer-facing system applications role. This role has 3 key functions:

1. Drive Valencell’s design-in and ramp to production cycle within customer base:

  • Facilitate customer needs analysis and assessment for wearable/hearable product
  • Product demos using Benchmark eval and data collection tools
  • Develop and present solution proposals
  • Assess competitive threats and recommend technical solution(s)
  • Review / analyze / troubleshoot customer hardware and firmware designs
  • Manage internal and external technical sales process
  • Develop and drive critical relationships within customer base

2. Champion the “customer’s voice” in developing and designing Valencell’s technical sales and support tools

  • Collaborate with Valencell’s hardware and firmware system design teams on new customer evaluation and demonstration tools (boards, software, and documentation).
  • Assist with new product (module and/or library) bring-up and internal evaluation prior to customer release.

3. Partner with Valencell’s engineering team to develop best in class products requirements

  • Provide voice of the customer input on new and existing features and product
  • Participate in design reviews and other product development processes
  • Develop and implement customer-centric test programs & reports
  • Assist with new firmware and software release testing
  • Develop and maintain customer facing product documentation

Required education and skills:

  • B.S. or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or similar
  • 5+ years experience in a product development role
  • Experience working directly with customers
  • Experience in embedded systems engineering and hardware design
  • Experience with C, C++, and interpreted language(s)
  • Experience working with wearables, hearables, or fitness monitoring products
  • Working understanding of mechanical, industrial, and optics designs
  • Exceptional communications skills: summarizing customer needs, developing and delivering technical proposals, summarizing evaluation processes, distilling complex discussions, and preparing reports for both internal and customer consumption
  • Experience in the development of product documentation and/or user guides

Desired knowledge and experience:

  • Experience working with medical devices
  • Experience working in consumer electronics
  • Experience in 3D mechanical CAD, circuit board CAD, light drafting, and interpretation

Biometrics Lab Internship, Raleigh NC

Exercise Science
Part-time position up to 28 hours per week

Timeline and schedule:

  • Summer: May-August
  • Fall: August-December
  • Spring: January-May

Job Description:

You will be a vital member of the biometrics laboratory team, executing data collection and analysis of biometric sensors and related metrics. This position requires working with a large number of research volunteers in the laboratory and organizing data.

Required education and skills:

  • Exercise Science (in process for internship). Related majors with experience considered
  • Experience with data collection and organization
  • Understanding of exercise testing and prescription principles
  • Fast learner – this internship will require a large variety of analytic tasks
  • Self-starter – this internship requires taking the initiative to learn new things

Desired knowledge and experience:

  • Familiarity with exercise technology including smart phone applications, fitness software, heart rate, GPS, and/or power monitors
  • Ability to organize data utilizing spreadsheet and database software
  • Experience with fitness programs including cardiovascular and strength training
  • Understanding of indirect calorimetry
