Job Description:

You will be a vital member of our product development and R&D teams, developing innovative data solutions that power wearable sensors for sports, fitness, and health applications. Your specific activities will include the following: 1) analyzing biometric and activity sensor data and generating analysis reports, 2) developing algorithms and assessments, 3) supporting experimental studies and test-bed development, and 4) performing R&D support.

Required education and skills:

  • B.S. or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering, with 2+ years of work experience
  • Proficiency in Python and related packages (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn)
  • Understanding of Unix and Bash shell scripts
  • Understanding of SQL databases and SQL queries
  • Demonstrated experience at delivering solutions from analysis of noisy or unstructured data
  • Familiarity with a variety of analysis techniques (statistics, machine learning, and data mining)
  • Familiarity with a variety of signal processing techniques
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to take initiative

Desired knowledge and experience:

Firmware Engineer, Raleigh NC

Job Description:

You will be a vital member of our product development and R&D teams, developing innovative firmware solutions that power wearable sensors for sports, fitness, and health applications. Your specific activities will include the following: 1) Development and implementation of device drivers for a variety of embedded devices and MCUs, 2) Optimizing code for speed and power management, and 3) working within a development team of product managers, scientists, engineers, and DSP experts to integrate Valencell technology into packaged commercial solutions and to support rapid prototyping of next-gen solutions.

Required education and skills:

  • B.S. or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Fluency in C and/or C++
  • Fluency in EE basics & familiarity with electronics & systems integration
  • Experience and comfort with hardware test tools: scopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Experience preparing code for commercial delivery
  • Experience programming for DSP and microcontroller platforms, such as ARM
  • Experience with debugging code & optimizing code for speed, power savings, and memory space
  • Experience with in-circuit emulators and debuggers (JTAG / SWD)

Biometrics Lab Internship, Raleigh NC

Exercise Science
Type:
Part-time position up to 28 hours per week
Compensation:

Timeline and schedule:

  • Summer: May-August
  • Fall: August-December
  • Spring: January-May

Job Description:

You will be a vital member of the biometrics laboratory team, executing data collection and analysis of biometric sensors and related metrics. This position requires working with a large number of research volunteers in the laboratory and organizing data.

Required education and skills:

  • Exercise Science (in process for internship). Related majors with experience considered
  • Experience with data collection and organization
  • Understanding of exercise testing and prescription principles
  • Fast learner – this internship will require a large variety of analytic tasks
  • Self-starter – this internship requires taking the initiative to learn new things

Desired knowledge and experience:

  • Familiarity with exercise technology including smart phone applications, fitness software, heart rate, GPS, and/or power monitors
  • Ability to organize data utilizing spreadsheet and database software
  • Experience with fitness programs including cardiovascular and strength training
  • Understanding of indirect calorimetry
