Dr. Chris Eschbach was honored with the award at the annual Consumer Technology Association Technology & Standards awards luncheon in Los Angeles
Raleigh, N.C. – October 15, 2018 – Valencell, the leading innovator in wearable biometric sensor technology, today announced that the Director of its Biometrics Laboratory, Chris Eschbach, Ph.D., was awarded the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) 2018 Technology Leadership Award.
Candidates for the Technology Leadership Award are judged on their commitment to excellence as shown by their participation in CTA’s Technology & Standards program, and award recipients are selected by CTA staff and the chair and vice chair of the Technology & Standards Council, with final approval by the CTA president and CEO.
Dr. Eschbach has contributed more than five years of active participation which has been invaluable to CTA programs. According to the CTA, Dr. Eschbach “helped make CTA’s Health, Fitness and Wellness program one of the fastest growing standardization areas through his technical expertise and unique industry insight.” He also “actively identified new opportunities and projects for CTA’s standards committee while helping resolve open issues.”

We’ve made significant progress in the last few years in creating measurement standards for wearables, which will help consumers better understand how this data is generated from the devices and what can be done with it,” said Dr. Chris Eschbach, director of the Valencell Biometrics Lab. “I look forward to continuing this work with my colleagues on the CTA standards council’s and committees.”
In addition to heading up Valencell’s biometrics testing lab, Dr. Eschbach serves as Chair of the CTA Health Fitness and Wellness Standards Committee (R11), which develops standards addressing consumer health and fitness technology. He also serves as Vice Chair of the CTA Standards Council and is a member of the CTA Health & Fitness Technology Board.
