Job Description:

You will be a vital member of our operations team working with both Valencell’s Benchmark sensor solution product line and our Licensee custom designs.  Benchmark is a newly released product that is our manufactured solution for an optical heart rate monitor.  You will have the chance to help design and implement best practices in a fast paced and quickly growing company.

This role has 4 key functions:

1) Work with engineering, manufacturing partners and suppliers to support development of new products.  Support and implementation of control plans and SPC. Design the process to fit the needs of our product and customers to ensure good quality.

2) When there is an issue (internal or external) that is identified, coordinate the team to work to closure.  On all quality issues, identify root cause and implement a long-term corrective action (8D, 5 Why, etc.).  Own the delegation of all issues that get raised and report out the status on a weekly basis.  When needed, serve as a liaison with customers and keep them updated on the status of any corrective action that they have a stake in.  Lead the RMA process.

3) Key member in the development of the process management system.  Create and manage document control, product change management, quality management plus any additional processes that are needed as our business expands.

4) Support our Licensees and help them implement testing processes and work flows.  Analyze data from their testing and adjust test limits as needed.

This person must be a self-starter, highly motivated individual that works well across multiple teams in the company.

Required Education and Skills:

  • B.S. or higher in engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in a quality role in manufacturing
  • Experience working with electronics and optics
  • Experience working directly with customers
  • SPC and Statistical analysis methods and tools
  • Experience working with wearables or hearables or fitness brands (preferred)
  • Experience in consumer electronics or medical (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering, industrial design, and optics

Biometrics Lab Internship, Raleigh NC

Exercise Science
Part-time position up to 28 hours per week

Timeline and schedule:

  • Summer: May-August
  • Fall: August-December
  • Spring: January-May

Job Description:

You will be a vital member of the biometrics laboratory team, executing data collection and analysis of biometric sensors and related metrics. This position requires working with a large number of research volunteers in the laboratory and organizing data.

Required education and skills:

  • Exercise Science (in process for internship). Related majors with experience considered
  • Experience with data collection and organization
  • Understanding of exercise testing and prescription principles
  • Fast learner – this internship will require a large variety of analytic tasks
  • Self-starter – this internship requires taking the initiative to learn new things

Desired knowledge and experience:

  • Familiarity with exercise technology including smart phone applications, fitness software, heart rate, GPS, and/or power monitors
  • Ability to organize data utilizing spreadsheet and database software
  • Experience with fitness programs including cardiovascular and strength training
  • Understanding of indirect calorimetry
